The number of domestic express deliveries in China hit 14 billion in 2014, a 52% year-on-year growth and now the highest figure in the world, reports Shanghai's National Business Daily. Revenue for the logistics industry in China increased by 42% in 2014 to 204 billion yuan (US$32.8 billion), said Ma Junsheng, chief of the State Post Bureau, at a conference for national postal management in Beijing on January 6. According to projections, express shipping will increase by 40% in 2015 to 19.6 billion deliveries, with 30% revenue growth. The delivery business is booming fast in China along with the country's flourishing e-commerce. The amount of express deliveries grew tenfold within eight years, said the report. There are concerns behind the mounting figures, however. According to sources familiar with the industry, there is still a long way to go before China's delivery service can reach the standards of developed countries in the West.
