The Dongria Kondh are one of the large number of tribal minority groups living in the Eastern Ghats of Orissa in India. Most of the tribal habitat is hilly and forested whilst tribal economy is subsistence oriented combining hunting and collecting with shifting cultivation. As regards marriage, the most widely prevalent practice among the tribes of Orissa is through "capture"and bride-price is an inseparable part of tribal marriage, Women wear traditional jewelry and a massive number of modern hairclips ! They "powerwalk" barefooted distances of 25 -30 kilometres each way to their weekly tribal makets often carrying produce on their heads and a baby on their hip.
