The American White Pelicans return every year around Columbus Day and stay through the winter until about mid February when they head back out north to their nesting grounds along the US and Canadian border. The Monarch's migrate from the same area as the pelicans but only stop in north Texas to recharge their energy as they have about 1200 miles more to migrate. Their migration ends for this fourth generation in the central mountains of northern Mexico. They will lay their eggs for athe first of three generations that will migrate back to the Canadian border. Then a new 4th genertation will once again migrate to Mexico. The other butterflies are common species to the area.
