From Dr BUTLER'S Atlas, or ATLAS OF MODERN GEOGRAPHY by Samuel Butler MD and published by Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown & Green, London. - There is some distortion in the fringes of the image since the map was old and curled and could only be flattened by breaking the atlas. Hopefully you can use the inner map parts for something, but it's an interesting piece of Indian history before India was widely known to the Western public. - The atlas is undated in terms of a printed publication date, but an owner marked the front page in May 1838 so publication has to be before this even if it is not the actual publication year. Confusingly this copy has 23 sets of maps. According to British Library catalogues the 1838 version had 22 sets of maps, with the 1842 edition having 23 sets. So it records borders just before mid-19th century. I have cleaned up surface blemishes such as pencil marks and dirty patches on the map, and in one or two instances retouched minor printed imperfections, but otherwise the digital image is true to the appearance of the original in my possession. - By all accounts (at least according to the Bodleian Library) general Atlas map copyright in the UK exists for 70 years after the date of publication (when published by a company) - and not 70 years after the author's / originator's death as with literary works.
