A Hare Krishna teacher, one of two, leads children in a chant at the one room New Talavan school in Carriere, Miss., Dec. 27, 1980. The school is on a 700-acre farm owned by the Hare Krishna sect. The ten students receive basic education with the addition of of a scripture class. After school the children work on the farm along with the adults. "We are training our children to love God and show character," says the principal, a man named Nityananda.
