achi village, nagano, japan, 2022/23/04 , Koinobori at Achi-mura village in Nagano, which is one of the best places to see peach blossoms. Koinobori, meaning "carp streamer" in Japanese, are carp-shaped windsocks traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Tango no sekku, a traditional calendrical event which is now designated as Children's Day (Kodomo no hi), a national holiday in Japan. Koinobori are made by drawing carp patterns on paper, cloth or other nonwoven fabric. They are then allowed to flutter in the wind. They are also known as satsuki-nobori. Achi-mura in Nagano prefecture is known for being the best stargazing location in the country as appointed by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. In spring, however, this quaint village is also popular for its beautiful flowers – especially with around 10, 000 blooming peach trees covering the entire area.
