Bluedot is a three-day festival of discovery that promises to fuse a complex mix of artists, speakers, scientists and performers into an event unlike any on earth. Featuring headliners Kraftwerk, New Order and Hot Chip alongside an incredible science and arts bill that includes luminaries from across those sectors including Britain’s first astronaut Helen Sharman, the fourth edition of the unique bluedot festival will celebrate to the day the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing with a host of special performances and activities set against the stunning backdrop of the famous giant Lovell Radio Telescope. In July 1969, the Jodrell Bank Observatory team, led by Director Sir Bernard Lovell, monitored signals from the Apollo 11 Eagle lander carrying legendary astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Signals intercepted at Jodrell Bank caught the moment when the Eagle lander touched down on the surface, capturing one of the greatest achievements of mankind. On Sunday 7th July 2019, in recognition of its internationally significant heritage, science and cultural impact, Jodrell Bank Observatory was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status and has been inscribed on the World Heritage List. https://www.discoverthebluedot.com/bluedot-experience.
