Nam, a 44-year-old musician from Seoul of South Korea, is among the small number of foreigners who owned shops in the old town of Lijiang. When he travelled to China eight years ago, he was deeply impressed by the pleasant weather and the diverse traditional culture in this small town. The constant memories of Lijiang hunted for him as he left for other places. So he decided to return to the old town and started a new life here. It s not until three and a half years ago that he ended performing in different bars in Lijiang and opened his own shop, Freshnam Cafe , a cafe and bar named after Nam s nickname offering coffee, drinks, snacks and live shows. Quality is the priority of Freshnam, no matter whether music, drinks or service. Unlike most of the bars in Lijiang where singers often perform popular Chinese folk songs, Freshnam Cafe provides guests with more diverse music styles like blues, jazz, rock n roll and original songs. Many performers here are professional musicians or music lovers with years of performing experience. They volunteer to play at Freshnam as Nam s friends and give high quality of live shows which always attract attentions of passers-by. Nam wishes that his shop would continue to exist in the small town where come and go, so that one day when they come back, they can still see this familiar name Freshnam .
