Informations supplémentaires:
Built in 1842 by Robert Dickson, the original Dickson Mill was constructed of wood. To power a flourmill, sawmill and wool factory, Dickson also erected a dam that created more energy than any other power plant in Waterloo. The wooden structures were destroyed only years later in 1844 and replaced by the existing mill you see today, which is built from limestone from a local quarry. An abundance of fossils is embedded in the limestone. A major flood destroyed many of the riverside buildings; however, the Dickson Mill survived and is now one of the oldest surviving industrial buildings in Cambridge. The mill was purchased in 2008, restored, and given the new name of “Cambridge Mill, ” which now operates as a restaurant.
