CARDIFF, UNITED KINGDOM. FEBRUARY 3RD 2021. Shreshth Goel, a 19 year old Cardiff University law student, is running 5k everyday through the month of February dressed as a sanitary pad to raise funds for Freedom4Girls UK. Freedom4Girls is a UK-registered charity fighting period poverty. They actively support women and girls in both the UK and worldwide, who struggle to access safe menstrual products by offering not just disposables, but environmentally-friendly, washable re-usables and menstrual cups. Whilst doing research on period products for a project, Shreshth was shocked at the fact 27% of women across the UK will reuse their sanitary products due to being unable to afford new ones as well as 40% just using tissue paper. To raise more awareness of the issues surrouding period poverty he decided on running 5k around Cardiff for a month dressed as a sanitary product and has set up a gofundme page where anyone can donate with proceeds going to Freedom4Girls UK, found at: https://gofund.me/d3af6b1d . He also runs an instagram account where he tracks his progress which can be found at: www.instagram.com/safeperiodsforyou
