The Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, formerly called Palazzo degli Scari, is a historic building located in Cavalese, in the province of Trento.he palace was built as a temporary seat for the vicar of the prince-bishop of Trento who, as established by the Gebardini pacts of 14 July 1111, went to the Fiemme Valley twice a year to administer justice. The most ancient documents indicate that the building was erected approximately towards the end of the 13th century. [1] In 1500 the building was subjected to an intense building reorganization activity, for which artists of the highest level were engaged, called by the factory of the Buonconsiglio Castle. [1] At the beginning of the 19th century, at the end of the episcopal principality, the palace became a prison. In 1850 it was purchased by the Magnificent General Community of Fiemme which, during the twentieth century, promoted various restoration campaigns for the recovery of the monument. [1] After the last intervention, which ended in 2009, the building was used as a museum-art gallery. The noble Renaissance residence, reopened to the public on 5 July 2012, houses a collection of great works of art, including paintings by the major representatives of the Fiemme School of Painting, arranged chronologically from the beginning of the 17th century to the 19th century. The nineteenth-century prisons, with their engravings, tell the lives, memories and sentences of the prisoners of the time.
