The Bellagio Hotel Casino opened 15 October 1998 on the site of the famous Dunes Hotel and casino, which was demolished in 1993. The hotel's theme is the Lake Como town of Bellagio in Italy. Bellagio is famed for its elegance, including 2000 hand-blown glass flowers in the lobby ceiling. Another famous feature is the 8-acre (3.2 ha) lake, between the hotel and the Strip, in which the Fountains of Bellagio (seen here) dance to synchronised music. The hotel has 3, 950 rooms and the casino has a total gaming area of 10, 800 square metres (116, 000 square feet). 'O' (pronounced 'eau') is a water-themed stage production by the Canadian circus company, Cirque du Soleil. The show, featuring synchronised swimming, diving and acrobatics in, around and above a 1.5 million gallon water pool in a theatre with 1800 seats, has been running since October 1998.
