DPS Launch Student Support Programme with two Cork schools Huge Success for DPS Aspire2 Programme Launch St. Aidans launched this year’s Aspire2 student support programme in the school last evening and the event was attended by a large group of parents students and teachers. The school is one of six in Ireland to be involved in the programme which is now in its third year. Speaking at the launch of the programme, DPS Director Michael Mulhall said: Our vision is that through working in partnership with parents, schools and other key stakeholders from the education sector we can support students in the selected schools to achieve the best Leaving Cert possible and progress to third level university and further education. This in turn will provide better career opportunities and better job prospects to the selected students. Over the four year lifetime of the programme DPS has committed to providing significant financial investment in the participating schools which will enable them to provide supports in areas such as Oral language preparation Gaeltacht scholarships Motivational workshops Personal development Science workshops College visits Study related trips Site visits to pharmaceutical companies A key element of the programme is the student bursary scheme whereby scholarships with a total value of 2500 euro are awarded each year. This year’s recipients are Sean Boyle (UCC), Kyle Mc Mullen and Aoife Mulryan (CIT) and Niamh Long (Cork College of Commerce) and were warmly congratulated on the night. DPS Group is a global full-service engineering and project management company which employs over 1400 people worldwide, including over 200 in its Little Island facility and works with clients in the Life Sciences and Advanced Technology industries. The company is being partnered in the Aspire2 Programme by a number of third level institutions including Cork Institute of Technology, University College Cork and Trinity College Dublin.
