Informations supplémentaires:
This vessel was designed for the Hydrographic Survey and, for over half a century, CSS Acadia played a leading role in the charting of Hudson Bay and Strait, the Labrador coast, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and pioneered oceanography in Canadian waters. By charting safe passageways for shipping in these often-treacherous waters, she contributed to the economic development of the regions in which she was engaged. During both world wars, as HMCS Acadia, she served as an armed patrol vessel and then as a training ship. She was finally retired from service in 1969. The CSS Acadia was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1976. She is currently part of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax where she is docked at Butler's Wharf.
