Gareth Icke, son of David, speaks. Thousands of maskless demonstrators ignore social distancing for ‘We Do Not Consent’ anti-lockdown protest and rally in Trafalgar Square. Organised by campaign groups including Save Our Rights UK, the protest was called to mark six months since the passage of the Coronavirus Act, which gave the government wide-ranging powers to enact restrictions intended to curb the spread of the virus. Speakers on the main square steps were met with crowd roars of “Freedom!”, while others chanted, “We will win”. Placards saying “Think before it is illegal” and “Obey” with some advertising the QAnon conspiracy theory. The protest was eventually shut down by Metropolitan Police with sound equipment confiscated after crowds ignored police dispersal warnings and for not following current COVID-19 guidelines. The Met Police said 16 arrests were made and clarified that "this protest is no longer exempt from the regulations." COVID conspiracy theorists, believing the pandemic is a hoax, demand no further coronavirus restrictions including: no further lockdowns, no social distancing, no face masks, no track and trace, no health passports, no mandatory vaccinations and no 'new normal'.
