Kuching is the state capital of Sarawak, Malaysia. It occupies a position on the Sarawak River. Kuching translates as “Cat” in Malay, often known as the Cat City. There are a number of cat statues and related items around, including a Museum of Cats. The riverside of Kuching has undergone large redevelopment in recent years, assisting in increased tourism as well as amenities for local residents. The city is often an entry point to Borneo for those wishing to go into the rain forests. Kuching has a local Orang-u-tan rehabilitation centre, the Sarawak Museum is considered one of the best in SE Asia, the Sarawak Cultural Village, sea side resorts nearby and a range of local food it is rightfully very proud of including Kolok Mee. Historically Kuching is linked with the Brookes family, or White Rajas, with the Astana and Fort Margherita reminders from their time.
