Chinese snooker star Ding Junhui has been knocked out of the World Snooker Championship, in one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sports most prestigious tournament. Ding, the world No. 2 who is regarded as Asias best ever player, was knocked out in the first round by Englishman Michael Wasley, ranked 73 in the world. Snooker is a cue sport that uses 22 balls on a table with six pockets. Ding arrived at the Crucible Theatre in the northern English city of Sheffield, where he lives, fresh from winning the China Open on April 6, his fifth ranking title of the season. But any momentum from that record-equaling run disappeared as his first round match against Wasley went into overtime. Wasley hung on to push the match into the evening session with Ding leading 9-8 and needing only one more frame to win. After a long delay, they returned to the arena and Wasley brought the scores level thanks to a break of 103. The 24-year-old then won the deciding frame to progress to the second round with a 10-9 win.
