Faslane365 1st October 2007, the so called 'Big Blockade of Faslane' - the demo marks the end of a year of intensive protests against Faslane the Royal Navy base on the Clyde in Scotland host to all of Britains nuclear weapons. The weapons system known as Trident which the govt has confirmed it will be renewing and updating at an estimated cost of 76 billion pounds. An estimated 600 people descended on the main North Gate of the base pictured here which is home to the Uk's Trident Fleet. The protestors succeeded in temporarily closing off access to the base by blocking all 3 of its entrances, and a carnival spirit prevailed. The Royal Navy maintained that military operations were uneffected. More than 170 arrests throughout the day upwards of 1000 have been made during Faslane 365 cost of policing the protest is put at 6 million pounds.
