A pint serving jug with mould-blown, trailed and pincered decoration, probably England, possibly Savoy Glasshouse, possibly George Ravenscroft, circa 1675 to 1685. Colourless lead glass, blown, molded, applied, tooled. Ovoid form with tapered sides, rounded shoulder, cylindrical, slightly flaring neck and cup-shaped top with pinched pouring spout. The ovoid form with bold vertical ribbing (twelve ribs) pincered into a diamond pattern (so-called "nipt-diamond-waies"); seven vertical ribs trailed on the body, pincered vertically and horizontally to form ribbed fins; trailed vermicular collar near the base of the neck; and applied hollow handle, indented at the top possibly for the addition of a metal cover and anchor pin on the handle strap, and curled at the lower attachment; trailed, sloping foot rim, pincered radially with a tool with a pointed slender ribbed tip, rough pontil mark underneath the base. Small crack in the body, around the point of attachment of the handle, twelve horizontal fins broken, one vertical fin broken. Height - 21cm Overall width - 11.5cm Diameter of the foot - 8.6cm.
