A keen botanist and author, with a Walled Garden dating back to 1700 she designed and developed her garden with imagination and style. An English horticulturist and one of the first recipients of the RHS Victoria Medal of Honour awarded to her in in 1897. Ellen Willmott's lifelong passion for all things botanical was evident from her lifetime of dedication to gardening and the collection of plants she amassed at Warley. Planted here are a wide variety of exotic plant species from as far afield as Middle East and China including a Chusan Palm within the walled gardens and wonderful Ginkgo Biloba tree.
