Informations supplémentaires:
The towers of Corso Donati are located in Florence in the same block near Piazza di San Pier Maggiore. Corso Donati was a leader of the Black Guelph faction in 13th and early 14th century. He died in 1308 and the two towers that were owned by Corso are among the best preserved in Florence and stand out over the surrounding buildings. The first tower is in Borgo Albizi and dates back to the XIII century; it is incorporated in the Palazzo Donati and rises above the eaves. The second tower is located on Via Palmieri, at the corner of San Pier Maggiore square, and is connected to the other through a palace, formerly of the Corbizzi, which develops on the rear façade, while on Piazza San Pier Maggiore there are the spouts that support the ledge of the upper floors. This tower is better preserved, also due to a recent restoration; it'is very slender and spread over six levels. It was in a strategic point for the control of the accesses from the near San Pier Maggiore gate.
