Informations supplémentaires:
The famous author, Roald Dahl, purchased Gipsy House in Great Missenden at auction in March 1954, half the £4, 500 purchase price came from his mother (who had informed him about the house in the first place) and the other half from his new wife, the American actress, Patricia Neal. Dahl originally named the house Little Whitefield (it sits in Whitefield Lane) and only renamed it Gipsy House in 1960 after a family of gypsies who would camp in the fields nearby. It remained his home until his death in November 1990. The writing hut in which Dahl composed his works was moved from the the grounds of Gipsy House to the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden High Street in 2011 after a public appeal raised £500, 000 for it's relocation and restoration.. The house remains in the ownership of Dahl's family.
