Originally dating from the 11th century and in Romanesque style, the majority of the building dates from 13th century and is in Norman Gothic architecture. The central tower was added in 15th century and the copper dome added in the 1860s. The "Bayeux Tapestry" was commissioned by Bishop Odo, the then Bishop of Bayeux.
