The Galerie Argentine in the 16th arrondissement was under construction from 1904 till 1907. It was designed by Henri Sauvage and Charles Sarazin with a red-brick facade and apparent iron framework. It contains some details of Art-Noveau. Names after the argentine client who sponsor it, Mayol de Sevillosa. It has two levels, in the ground level there are shops and in the first lever offices which nowadays remain empty. The Parisian covered passages were built between the late 18th century and the mid-19th century in order to house shops and restaurants. These arcades covered with glass roofs connecting two streets were an architectural innovation at that time. From the 150 galleries that existed in 1850 only 20 remain nowadays. Each passage has its own special character and they have become a typical Parisian feature.
