"The Weekly Dispatch Atlas"), Published by Cassell, Petter and Galpin, London (Dispatch US maps) [Cassell's Weekly Dispatch Atlas]. Type: Antique map with original outline colour. The map depicts the western part of the United States as divided in the early part of the Civil War between the Union states (delineated in pink), the Confederate states (delineated in green), and the Border states (delineated in orange). Also marked are the areas inhabited by native American tribes, and the routes proposed for trans-continental railroads, including routes "explored for the Pacific Railroad" by Captain Gunnison and Lieutenant Beshwith, "Proposed Pacific Railroad", and "Governor Stevens Route and Line of the Proposed Pacific Railroad".
