Local Chinese government officials and citizen representatives take part in an episode of a live TV show aimed at solving the citys most pressing problems in Wuhan city, central Chinas Hubei province, 2 July 2013. A group of government officials in China had a tough time facing public scrutiny after they were put on a live TV to address residents grievances. Chinese officials have become known for their reluctance to face the problems of their cities. But from July 2 to July 6, Wuhan Television held a series of live shows aimed at solving citys most pressing problems. These problems ranged from extravagance and lavish spending of government departments, services for the retired and traffic, and the officials had no choice but to attend the show after their superiors forced them to. During the five-episode series, a number of officials, including vice mayors and various heads of bureaus and districts, collectively sat in the hot seat and faced the publics wrath.
