Mid section of the Hub in Edinburgh, a great example of Gothic architecture. The building stands out among the other buildings. The cloudy background adds a good touch to the photo. The HUB is a building that is a striking part of the Edinburgh architecture, with the Gothic spire visible above the surrounding buildings and is the highest point in central Edinburgh. It is located on the Royal Mile, located between the Edinburgh Castle and the Hoyrood Palace. The HUB is currently the headquarters of the Edinburgh International Festival. The HUB is also available for weddings. The HUB was originally a religious place, constructed between 1842 and 1845, meant to house the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. In 1929, the Church of Scotland stopped using the building and it became the home for other congregations. The building fell into disuse in the 1960's, and in 1999, the building was adopted to be the HUB, as the headquarters for the festival. The building, besides being the headquarters, also has a cafe, a main Hall and is used to hold concerts.
