December 1, 2018 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany - Marvin Goering resurfacing with the Yellow Vests after being the target of a weapons raid by the Bavarian Interior Ministry in 2017. The Ministry feared that Pegida Munich was obtaining weapons through Goering and was going to carry out an attack. Looking to capitalize on the recent attention gained by the French Yellow Vest movement, 13 far- and extreme-rightists in Munich held their own unregistered event at Marienplatz to primarily protest against immigration, immigrants, migrants, and the United Nations Migration Pact. After meeting with police, they then registered a spontaneous rally at Gaertnerplatz. Among the demonstrators were members of the Wodans Erben Buergerwehr vigilante group who patrolled Munich’s city center and Christmas markets beforehand. The Wodans Erben are one of the two groups that sprouted out of the Verfassungsschutz-monitored Soldiers of Odin right-extremist vigilante group. Despite the name change, the Verfassungsschutz has confirmed both splinter groups are under monitoring. Also in attendance was Marvin Goering, son of Heinz Meyer, who was a target of weapons raids by the Bavarian Interior Ministry. The Ministry believed that Pegida Munich may have been planning an imminent attack on foreigners and Goering’s father, Heinz Meyer, was using him to obtain weapons. Meyer is under federal terrorism watch since 2012 and is the head of Pegida Munich. Right-extremists throughout Germany have a long-standing history of wearing safety vests with various racist slogans on them or to mock police orders and municipal ordinances.
