The sad story behind this wrecked oyster berth the Llys Helig is that she suffered this watery fate after tipping on her side one evening during March 2017. The Llys Helig was built in 1922 as a gentleman's cruiser. She has two straight ten diesel engines, which have been underwater since she sank two years ago and have not been run for about 25 years. A small plaque has been erected at the site where she rests, and conservation work is said to be underway after a private sale. The history of the vessel LLYS-HELIG is that she was built in 1922 for Liverpool Solicitor and businessman W.E. Corlett and owned by him until his death in 1961. She was then heavily modified with additional superstructure added in the 1960s. This vessel was later used as a tender for the Pirate Radio Station Radio Caroline before being final use as a houseboat.
