Playing storming roots of country, bluegrass and old-time tunes with the pure essence of early rockabilly, The Wilders deliver a blistering fiddle/banjo/dobro/slap bass hoedown, full of whizz-bang music that is as infectious, fun loving and good time as you will ever hear. Check out this awesome live set: Led by Ike Sheldon on lead vocals and guitar, The Wilders is made up of multi-award winning fiddler Betse Ellis, string virtuoso Phil Wade on dobro, mandolin and banjo and dazzling bassist Nate Gawron. The energetic quartet's high-octane live performances have won them many accolades, including a Herald Angel (the Edinburgh Fringe Festival equivalent of an Oscar), and in January 2009, they wowed a 1600 capacity crowd at Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket, as part of the annual Celtic Connections Festival. This remarkable performance was recorded for BBC Two, with presenter Mary Ann Kennedy introducing them as "one of the undoubted hits of the event". The Wilders' latest CD "Someone’s Got To Pay", which was recorded in Louisiana and produced by the legendary Dirk Powell, went straight to the top of the Roots of Country Top 50 on its release in America and in January 2009 won the group the Best Alt-County Album title in the prestigious American Independent Music Awards.
