Boone Hall Plantation in Mt.Pleasant, SC (a suburb of nearby Charleston), is one of the oldest working plantations in North America. It boasts over 730 acres of naturally preserved wet lands and farm lands and over 300 years of history and is considered America's most photographed plantation and one of its most popular historic sites. Plantation Coach Tours take guests around the entire plantation in an open air coach that visits the farm lands, pecan groves, and various salt marsh and freshwater ponds with running commentary on the agriculture and history of Boone Hall Plantation over the centuries. "Avenue of Oaks" is a 3/4 mile of 2 rows of Live Oaks planted in 1743. It took 200 years for the oaks to meet overhead forming the canopied and beautifully distinctive tree corridor that greets visitors as they approach Boone Hall Plantation.
