Interior shot of St. Vitus Cathedral. Construction of the current building began in 1344, and took almost 600 years to complete. It is a gothic-style Roman Catholic Cathedral, commissioned when Prague became an Archbishopric. The Cathedral is located within the Prague castle complex, and contains the tombs of several notable kings and Holy Roman Emperors. The first (original) church on the site was founded by Wenceslaus I in 925, and named after a holy relic he possessed, the arm of St. Vitus. Over the centuries, the cathedral included renaissance, baroque, and neo-gothic elements, which were, in general, ultimately harmonized with it's original gothic design. This view looks towards the rose window at the front of the Cathedral.
