Evening twilight view tall branch tree trunk, sand beach expanse, Fairhaven, Lytham St Annes, UK
Informations supplémentaires:
Evening twilight sky, towards a red sun sinking through grey horizon clouds, above a flat, wide, dry expanse of sand beach, looking west, some distance out from the coastline at Fairhaven, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. A tree trunk, with a tall slanting branch at one end and an accumulation of wind-blown sand around the log, lies on the beach in the foreground. The tidal range on the beach varies. A 7 metre high tide covers only a small section of beach, allowing large areas to dry out and blow in the wind (as seen here). A 10 metre high tide, in contrast, will flood the beach and reach the coastline (right of shot), leaving the beach wet at low tide. Tree remains, derived from bank erosion in the upper reaches of the River Ribble, are occasionally washed onto the beach by the high tide. This trunk stayed for a few weeks before being washed away. Others, in contrast, may be washed nearer and nearer the coastline, where they may be cut up and removed.
