The scaffolding has come off the front of Clarence House - which is undergoing refurbishment and redecoration to become the new London residence of the Prince of Wales. * The building, designed by John Nash and built between 1825 and 1827 for Prince William Henry, Duke of Clarence, who lived there as King William IV from 1830 until 1837, was the former London residence of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother from 1953 until 2002. The public will be able to visit the building from 6th August to 17th October 2003. The costs of the refurbishment and redecoration is being met by the Government from funds allocated to the maintenance of royal palaces, while the Prince is paying the costs relating to furnishing.
