Informations supplémentaires:
Datang Miao Village, Guizhou Province, China, is the home to the Short Skirt Miao people. The origin of the "miniskirt" among the females of Datang Miao Village is not known. During the Ming Dynasty (AD 1368-1644), women were required to completely cover their bodies. The Miao females of Datang Village, in contrast to other Chinese ethnic groups, and unlike other Miao groups, began to wear extremely short miniskirts, perhaps as an act of defiance against Ming Dynasty "Victorianism". The extremely short skirts are worn year round, even in the winter. Some modesty is preserved by the short front apron and the long rear apron. In this image a local shop keeper smiles and looks back at her young son, bundled on her back.
