HANOI, Vietnam — le musée a été ouvert le 17 juillet 1956, deux ans après la victoire sur les Français à Dien bien Phu. Il est également connu sous le nom de Musée de l'Armée (les Vietnamiens avaient peu de choses dans la voie des forces navales ou aériennes à l'époque) et est situé dans le centre de Hanoi dans le district de Ba Dinh près du monument de Lénine dans le parc Lénine et non loin du mausolée de Hô Chi Minh.
