Isabelle of Bavaria (1371-1435) was the consort of Charles VI of France. In league with Burgundy. she helped bring about the Treaty of Troyes (1420) by which she disinherited her son Charles VII and gave Henry V of England, the husband of her daughter, the title of regent and heir to the crown of France. Here, Isabelle, also known as Isabeau, is shown with two ladies in waiting. One holds the train of her cloak. The other holds the train of her dress. The drawing is taken from Portefeuille Gaigneres, after a painting of the time. It is housed in Paris in the Biblioteque Nationale.
