The Abraham Lincoln Memorial, Washington. Born 12thFeb 1809, elected Pres. in 1860, won re-election in 1864, on Apr 14th 1865 he was shot by John Wilkes Booth. Daniel Chester French's sculpture of the President Is 19' 9" tall and 19' wide. It used up 28 bocks of white georgia marble and above it stand the words, "In this temple as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the union the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever". In 1939 Marian Anderson sang from the steps to an audience of 70, 000 as well as a nation-wide radio audience. On August 28th 1963 made his " I Have a Dream" speech following the March For Jobs and Freedom rally. The statue Looks down the Mall In Washington toward The Houses of Congress.
