Porch opposite Mistral wind The Chapel of Our Lady of Pépiole Chemin de Pépiole 83140 Six-Fours-Les-Plages (France) GPS 43.12003 N / 5.82947 E Built by the monks of Saint Victor Abbey in Marseilles from 8th to 12 th centuries on the remains of a worship place dated 5/6 th century (sacrificial stone at the entrance of the chapel) . From the parking place one walk through a vineyard, an olive grove and a meadow. The tall cypresses are sign of welcome according to the Provençal tradition. The sanctuary has four distinctive parts : Three parallel naves and a posterior room in the Syrian style (inspired by Saint Cassien ?). During the French Revolution, the building had been vandalized and falled into a semi-oblivion until Dom Paul-Celestin CHARLIER (with the assistance of Father Hubert), a monk from the Abbey of Maredsous in Belgium, undertook the reconstruction in 1956 and created, having no money, to create the false stained-glass windows made of broken bottles figuring « The Holy Trinity », « The Miracle of Multiplying Fish and Bread », »The Veneration of the Holy Bread » and « The Burning Bush ». A must-see on the Côte d’Azur. Visits every day from 3 PM to 6 PM
