Informations supplémentaires:
The Mad Maldon Mud Race is an event held annually usually between Christmas and New Year. The race is run at low tide in the mud of the river Blackwater in Maldon, Essex. There are usually around 150 contestants who start on the river bank at Prom Park, run through the river, along the opposite bank and back through the river to the finish line. Participants in the race use strong tape to bind their shoes to their feet so that they are not lost in the thick mud. The winner usually finishes the course in about 5 minutes, the last few back can take upto an hour to crawl through the churned up mud. The race is organised by the local rotary club and raises money for a variety of charities including the Essex Air Ambulance.
