The lady is Muslim and is wearing the full length black dress called the Hijab or the Burkha. The Jama Masjid is one of the major landmarks in Delhi, being the primary mosque in Old Delhi. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who also built the Red Fort in Delhi and whose most famous buildings was the Taj Mahal in Agra. The completion of the Jama Masjid was complete in the year 1656 AD, and the full name of the mosque is Masjid-i Jahān-Numā. The building is more commonly called the Jama Masjid because of the congregation of devout Muslims that happens here every Friday in the vast courtyard. The courtyard is so huge that it can host upto 25, 000 worshippers. The mosque was a gigantic construction, requiring 6, 000 workers a period of 6 years to build the mosque. The Jama Masjid is very accessible to tourists, with a charge needed for photography. The only thing to be aware of is that photography should not disturb the prayers held here, at a specific time every day and more importantly, on Friday.
