Improvements to the A591/High Street Junction:- This retains much of the existing layout but results in a more efficient use of the space available, reducing the open nature of the junction. All turning movements are maintained but traffic lanes are clearly defined with road markings, coloured surfacing and a new traffic Island. The entry to Lakeland Ltd and the Rail Station is treated with coloured surfacing to a 'Gateway' feature. Carriageways and footpaths are generally resurfaced with bituminous materials. Cycle lane surfacing will be renewed on the A591 eastern Approach to the town along with new 'SLOW' markings on the carriageway. A new pedestrian controlled crossing will be provided on the A591 to the West of the High Street Junction. The parking bay on the South side of the A591 w Environmental Enhancement in Crescent Road:- These improvements will make a more attractive place for residents and visitors to use and will cater for through traffic and the needs of businesses for servicing their premises. Most of the existing on-street parking arrangements are retained with the overall length of Parking for the scheme increased. This is combined with improved facilities for pedestrians and the mobility impaired moving along and across the road. Works Include: A new min-roundabout to improve traffic circulation at the Crescent Road/Main Road/Victoria Street Junction. Widened footways in porphyry slab and granite kerb with new signs, seating, planting boxes, trees, bins, lighting and cycle parking. Parking Bays in Sandstone block paving with Granite Channels. Junction areas in Sandstone block paving with Granite Channels. Minor Streetscape improvements in the top section of High Street and throughout Victoria Street to link the above areas. Footway widening and streetscape improvements at the top of Main Road at its Junction with Elleray Road. Upgrading and refurbishment of the existing pedestrian controlled crossings on Crescent Road and Main Road.
