The 101-year-old Royal was resuming her appointment as Honorary Air Commodore of Number 600 (City of London) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force. The squadron, which won the reputation during the 1939-45 war as being among the greatest night fighters, was disbanded in 1957. Shortly after the war, the Queen Mother had become the squadron's Honorary Air Commodore. Today, at a Guildhall reception in the City of London, she was meeting veterans and present-day members of the squadron.
