Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Hebron is one of the most disputed cities of the West Bank. Hundreds of Israeli settlers have come to live here since 1967, building numerous settlements, currently among the largest in Palestine. Today the city is divided into two: H1 area about 120 thousand Arabs living under Palestinian authority and H2 area, under the authority of the Jewish state, with nearly 700 Israelis, along with other 30 thousand Palestinians. Each of the two zones is controlled by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), about 2, 000 in all. The Jews in Hebron settlers are ultra-Orthodox and live in enormous contrast with the Palestinian population. Shuhada Street of the Palestinian population, as well as the main artery for the residents of Hebron / Al Khalil. Today, because Shuhada Street runs through the Jewish colony in the city.
