Origins and Purpose In 1937, Wright established Taliesin West as his winter home and desert laboratory. The name itself pays homage to his beloved summer residence, Taliesin, located amidst the lush rolling hills of Spring Green, Wisconsin. Just as Taliesin was a manifestation of Wright’s vision in the verdant Midwest, Taliesin West emerged from the arid Arizona landscape.
