The Finnish Social Democratic Party was not happy to what has happened at the President's election and they organized a general strike to start at 01.03.1956, the inaugural day of the new president Urho Kekkonen. There were half a million strikers and the the strike continued to 20.03.1956. The employers agreed to 6-10% salary increases, which ended the strike. Kekkonen got his revenge later that year 1956 when the agriculture income, not agreement, but law was accepted in the Parliament. It was a huge income shift from working class families to farmer families. Since then the agricultural products prices had no limits.
