Caption: Ser'xu, Sichuan, China - Sep 2002. A nomadic Khampa man at the Ser'xu Horseracing Festival in Eastern Tibet. Swathed in long fox skin cloaks, hats and never without their ponies, the Khampa are cavaliers- heroic herdsmen who roam the grasslands of the former Tibetan kingdom of Kham. The most important event on the Khampa calendar, the once every three year horse racing festival attracts swarms of Khampas who gather to socialise and see who has the fastest horse.
