Gridsetskolten (1 066moh) is a marked peak in Innfjorden . The mountain lies at and east of Innfjorden in Rauma in Romsdal, Norway. Gridsetskolten is steeply from the sea, through a wooded li. The terrain is difficult with a lot of stone that have fallen down from the steep summit. European route 136 went past along the waterfront. The road was exposed to rock falls and avalanches from the steep mountainside. In 1989 was a large stone and landslides that blocked the road. A passenger was taken by the landslide and the driver died. It was made temporary ferry docks at Gridsetstranda in Innfjorden and Oran at Åndalsnes . The road was never opened again and in 1991 was Innfjordtunnelen between Innfjorden and Veblungsnes opened. Gridsetskolten is a popular utsprangsted for base jumpers . In the summer of 2008, while the Norwegian Mountain Festival , the World BASE Race first held in Innfjorden. Base jumpers from anywhere in the world competed in jumping from Gridsetskolten. "B.A.S.E." is an acronym that stands for four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump: buildings, antennas, spans (bridges), and earth (cliffs).
