Informations supplémentaires:
There are suggestions of strange shadows associated with the ruins of Hollinshead Hall. It was once a manor house close to the village of Tockholes and about two miles south of the village. The ruins date to the late 18th century and are primarily of the hall, gardens, barn and stables. The only intact structure is the Well House on the south east side of the walled garden. It is suggested that the name “Hollinshead” is not a family name but is derived from “Holy Head”which was a name given the manor in the 14th century. This in its turn is thought to be derived from the noted spring fed holy well. The well has a reputation for being haunted and the water is said to be very pure and good for the eyes!
