The plane whose safe landing on the Hudson River captivated the world two years ago passed through areas of New Jersey on its way to aviation history in North Carolina. The Airbus A320 rolled out of a warehouse in Harrison Saturday morning and across the Passaic River. It made its way through areas like Newark, Hillside, New Brunswick, Trenton and Bordentown before its arrival at Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, N.C., where it will become a piece of American history. Spectators watching the motorcade as it travels through the states will notice the plane is missing its wings and tail, removed to allow the fuselage to fit through city streets. It was being transported by J. Supor & Son Trucking & Rigging Co., and escorted by the New Jersey State Police while in the state. After seven days on the road, the fuselage is in the city where it was supposed to have landed on Jan. 15, 2009. That was before the Airbus 320 collided with a flock of Canada geese after taking off at New York's LaGuardia Airport, forcing a splash-down on the Hudson River. At the museum, a former Wachovia hangar near Charlotte/Douglas International, the plane will be reassembled and become a permanent exhibit that museum officials hope will draw people from all over the world.Read more: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/06/10/2365121/famed-plane-nears-end-of-final.html#ixzz1PA3umq5I
